Every year, the Volunteer Organization of CPRI holds a massive used book sale to help raise funds. Last year was our 39th Annual Sale, and we raised $15,000!
Bill McGrath, Ada Edwards, Joe Malone, Richard and Cathy Vandierendonck ... WOW! Forty Years and Counting! In 1969, Operation Bookmark was created as a fundraiser to support the renovation of a home on the grounds of CPRI that would provide accommodations for parents/families of CPRI clients. This home, initially known as Glenhurst Lodge, is now called Oakwood. The first Operation Bookmark Used Book Sale was held in downtown London at the Wellington Square. It was a great success. Not only were funds raised for Glenhurst Lodge, but it also provided community awareness of CPRI. The entire community came together to help out with this project in 1969, and they continue to do so today. In April 2008, Operation Bookmark held its 39th Annual Used Book Sale at the Westmount Shopping Centre. Over 75 volunteers came together to sort, load, unload, set-up and sell books. Over $15,000 was raised. And fittingly, all proceeds are going towards a renovation of the Oakwood house. |
